Mixed Media Textile Artists of New Mexico - Updated 10/18

Who are we?  The Mixed Media Textile Artists of New Mexico (MMTA) is an informal organization open to all who share an interest in mixed media textile art that is diverse in style and medium.  It holds meetings and participates in the ABQ Fiber Arts Council and the Fiber Arts Fiesta. It also maintains an organizational blog.  In addition, workshops and other events may be facilitated.

Meetings.  Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in pursuing Mixed Media Textile Art.  Meetings are monthly and include a short business discussion (as needed) and a member “show and tell.”  Mini -workshop, demos, etc. may also be included. Currently, meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 9:30 am at the St. Michael & All Angels Church, 601 Montaño NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. As of January 2022, face masks are REQUIRED,

Dues – Dues are $12.00 annually.

Workshops.  Workshops and seminars may be scheduled depending on member interests.  The MMTA will publicize workshops and sign up participants.  The workshop leader will be responsible for announcing and assessing any participant charges (e.g., for supplies or room rent) and make other necessary arrangements (such as securing a location or other contractual matters).

Leadership. The organization will be led by an annually rotating facilitator.  The leadership will change every year in JULY.  As a co-sponsoring guild to the ABQ Fiber Arts Council (AFAC) we will choose a representative to the Fiber Arts Fiesta committee and provide a representative to the Education Committee.  These representatives will serve for one year Other MMTA committees and chairpersons may be selected as needs arise (i.e. Blog Coordinator, Program Chair, etc.)

Guidelines and Policies.  When necessary, the facilitator(s) will appoint committees to propose policy changes or new guidelines.  Committee recommendations will be presented to the organization at regular meetings and adopted by a majority vote of those present.

Blog. The MMTA will maintain a blog.  It will include information on the organization and its meetings and workshops.  It will also alert members to local and other activities of interest to the members.  Members wishing to add information to the blog may do so by contacting a MMTA coordinator or the Blog Coordinator.  Information added to the blog will be vetted for suitability and acceptance before being published.

Membership list.  The membership email and contact list will be maintained by the facilitator(s).  It will also be available to the Blog Coordinator.  The membership list will not be disseminated.
