January 2024  minutes

Susan Wright gave us info on the Tortuga mixed media show called “All Mixed Up’. This show at the Tortuga gallery (our last show there) will be from May 3-11. All entries must be brought in on May 2nd. Check with Susan if you need more details.

Our February demo will be done by Adele and she will be showing clothes that she has made, various fabrics she uses and slow stitch items.

Syd Lord next mentioned that the 6X6 squares for Fiesta will be due at the March meeting. Also you are encouraged to make little doodads and bring them also for the Fiesta. Any small pieces will be welcome! 

Pieces for the airport display should be brought to the next meeting in February.

Pam Herman went mentioned all the new events and these will be listed on the website blog. 

At the March meeting we need to bring our “challenge” pieces. 

We voted to do textures for this challenge and look forward to seeing what everyone will come up with!

There was no treasurers report this month but we are reminded that this is the start of a new year and we can certainly use any money that you wish to contribute to piggy!

And finally, Larry Schulte did an excellent demo on the use of gold and silver leaf applications. Very interesting. He also brought examples of his work using this technique.

Lastly, we had our usual show and tell!
